HISTORIC CONDO RENOVATION
BRINGING A
HISTORIC
GEM BACK
The charming Kalorama neighborhood showcases a captivating blend of townhomes, Beaux-Arts apartments, and majestic mansions, all overlooking the scenic Rock Creek Park.
Our clients acquired a three-bedroom condo within the historic Dresden Condominiums on Connecticut Avenue, originally constructed in 1909 by Harry Wardman and designed by Alfred Beers. Unfortunately, the building and its units underwent a poorly executed renovation in 1974, obscuring their original character.
Our clients' primary goal was to restore the unit's historic charm while seamlessly integrating modern functionality.
Every inch of the space was thoughtfully reimagined. We introduced custom bookcases to a new gallery and great room, redesigned the centrally located kitchen and pantry, and repositioned an awkwardly placed powder room. Additionally, we enlarged the primary bathroom and created a private study complete with a Murphy bed.
The design took full advantage of the expansive arched windows overlooking the Taft Bridge, allowing natural light to flood the unit. The newly crafted spaces are discreet yet open, featuring elegant trim and ornate crown moldings that pay homage to the building's storied past.
